For, what many might call a very "long time" our family has been ranching in the heart of the Northwest Tarrant County Texas; not far from Eagle Mountain Lake and the famed Fleming Pointe Community located on the East side of beautiful Eagle Mountain Lake. Our love for raising the best FUN and Beef in Texas is/will be legendary. The world headquarters for the ranch is located at Lakeview Marina, not too far from the ranch and where the fun usually begins!
Our cattle are raised on a diet of specially prepared feeds and grasses by our resident feedmixologist! Feeding times occur six times per day a 6am, 9am, Noon, 3pm, and 6pm. A more in-depth discussion on the special diet for the six feeding times is discussed below. Some select steers then get to stay in our exclusive COW SPA!
The 12-3s ranch is over 40 Hectares. This vast property required a methodical way to call up the herd for their six feedings per day. The owner, Mr. Preston, as he is called by his ranch hands and friends, decided to purchase an old church clock/bell that was to ring on the hour of each of the feedings. It just so happened that the clock/bell was defective and would only ring three times, no matter if it was 6am-9am-noon-3pm or 6pm. Over time, the annoyed ranch hands and nearby neighbors began to say....."well it must be 3 O'clock somewhere" and thus the tradition began.
The 12-3s ranch is happy to announce a new 50/50 partner in the ranch operations. Mr. Ridge was brought on board in November 2024 to take on half of the responsibilities of running this operation. Currently Mr. Ridge is still focused on the dairy business he was born into (pun intended) but will rapidly be learning the ropes, per se, of a beef cattle operation. Mr. Preston is very happy with this addition as he will now have more time to enjoy his favorite pastime of BIG GAME HUNTING!
The 12-3's is happy to announce that we experienced a 100% fertility rate this winter. Pictured is the first calf born in 2025. Our feeding program has once again proved to be the difference between a 70-80% fertility rate and our 100% success rate. The final feeding of the day is difference maker!

We take pride in raising happy and healthy certified Wagyu Beef in a very stress free environment. Each few months we take six of our prize Steers and move them to an Air-Conditioned pen where they stay all day at an extremely comfortable temperature.
We believe in pampering our beef....their daily bath and blow dry makes the difference in well marbled and tasty beef.
If the night-time temperature allows, the six lucky steers that have a bath each day get to spend the night outside in a special covered pen with excellent air-circulation
Our resident feedmixologist is adamant that the day be started off with a mixture of select grains mixed with fresh ripe tomatoes. Some of these select grains are distilled and when mixed with the crushed tomatoes looks somewhat like a popular breakfast libation.
Our feedmixologist takes pride in the second meal of the day for the cattle. It's called desarmador con la carne de vaca grande. This special feed starts with fresh oranges mixed with feed and the same distilled grains used in the 6am feeding with an additional touch of fermented potatoes.
The noon and 3pm feeding can be viewed as an offshoot of the original Kobe style of beef which are said to be fed beer. It is a special mixture of feed that includes barley and malt blended in a lager style. Our feedmixologist is convinced that this revolutionary mix "taste great" and makes the cattle "less bloated". Thus, allowing for faster growth and its better for the environment as the cattle have less gas.
Believing that the 3pm feed time is the most important of the day, the most celebrated of our proprietary feeds are used. It too contains a blend of grains including wheat and barley and it fermented with a special water. The water is brought in by train in special stainless steel train cars from high in the mountains of Texas. Mr. Preston once said of this famous mixture...
"bad beer".
Raising the most flavorful and perfectly marbled beef requires the Wagyu cattle to rest well at night. That said, the 6pm feed is a superior blend of feed grains distilled with leaves of the blue agave plant and tequila worms (a weevil larva). Due to the potent nature of this feed, as it tends to make the cattle stumble...therefore only a limited amount is allowed for each animal. Thus, a one bucket aka "shot of feed" is allowed per steer per evening.
